I think .long term risks are not yet known. I suspect eventually your vision might get even worse than before and you might get some more vision problems. We will see in about 15 years or so.

The plan to go for Lasik actually saved my father's vision. When he went to the doctor to say that he wanted it, they found a hole in his retina. He had to get it fixed before they would do the Lasik. He's now rethinking the Lasik, not for any of the reasons you guys talked about, it's just now that the surgery is freaking him out.
