Thread: Critiquing commercials

    Default Critiquing commercials

I really hate the On-Star commercials. They irritate me enough to change stations.

Conversely the "cave man" Geico commercials are very cool.

From a marketing standpoint, I guess the On-Stars get the job done in terms of increasing name recognition. That's actually one weakness in the caveman commercials: you could miss that Geico is the sponsor in some of the "takes".

Apparently, the "caveman" is getting his own sitcom.

How can they give a primitive Neanderthal his own sitcom? I guess comedy is so easy, even a . . . well, you know.

But seriously, wasn't this already done to death by Phil Hartman on SNL as "Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer?"

This isn't really a critique, but has anyone seen the one with the two wrestlers, and a ref, and the one wrestler who's about to be pinned tells the other one his skin is softer than usual or something like that?

I think it has been done too death already. However, someone thinks that revisting the whole caveman thing is a good idea.

If they make him a lawyer. Then I know they are just copying SNL.

I can't stand the Coors Light "press conferences" ads. I had just about forgotten about it since the NFL season ended, but it was back again in full blast this weekend during the draft. Ugh.

Some of us are old enough to remember a sitcom in the 1960s starring Sid Caesar and Imogene Coco about astronauts who crash-land in a place that's back in time. I can only remember a snippet of the theme song, "It's about time, it's about space..."

I also remember that it was pretty awful, and didn't last very long.
