Thread: My Living Will

  1. #1

    Default My Living Will

Last night my sister and I were sitting in the den and I said to her, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle to keep me alive. That would be no quality of life at all, If that ever happens, just pull the plug."

So she got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my beer.

    She's such a bitch.

Some folks take that discussion a lot differently than expected, like your sister. I know when my Mom brought up the subject it wasn't an easy discussion, but it was one she had to have.

Maybe it was the way you raised the issue. Was it a stone cold statement? Obviously it was not a subject she wanted to talk about at that particular moment. It wasn't an scenario she wanted to accept. It's out there now and she'll remember.

By the way, if your desire isn't in writing it doesn't exist in the eyes of the medical community or the courts. NC probably has a defined format for a living will, most states do. You can go on line and find the blank, complete it and have it notarized.

Funnier than the joke itself. The joke was funny. RYou was funnier.
