Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

Sal "The Barber" Maglie and "The Splendid Splinter" Ted Williams. Leo "the Lip" Durocher, Leroy "Satchel" Paige, Harold "Peewee" Reece, Enos "Country" Slaughter, Charles "Casey" Stengel, Lloyd "Little Poison" Waner and Paul "Big Poison" Waner. Sparky (not a bad nickname in itself) "Captain Hook" Anderson, "Cool Papa" Bell, Jay Hanna "Dizzy" Dean, Edward "Whitey" Ford. Denton True "Cy (for Cyclone)" Young.

Sometimes I suspect I am a little older than most of you.

Boxers pick some snazzy nick names. There isn't a boxer on the planet that doesn't have one.

    Cassius "The Louisville Lip" Clay
    Muhammad "The Greatest" Ali
    Larry "The Easton Assassin" Holmes
    Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns
    Rubin "Hurricane" Carter
    "Smokin'" Joe Frazier
"Sugar" Ray Robinson (Leonard, is so unoriginal)
    Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker
    Chuck "The Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner
    Rocky "The Brockton Blockbuster" Marciano
    Joe "The Brown Bomber" Louis
    Ezzard "The Cincinnati Flash" Charles
James J. "The Cinderella Man" Braddock
    Jack "The Manassa Mauler" Dempsey
    Archie "The Mongoose" Moore
Luis "The Wild Bull of the Pampas" Firpo
    Tony "Two Ton Tony" Galento
    Jake "Raging Bull" LaMotta

    And, let's not forget.....
Rocky "The Italian Stallion" Balboa, and
Apollo "The Count of Monte Fisto" Creed
