    Default trojan.fakeavalert

I think I'm screwed. Just got snagged by this malware and everything I've leads me to believe I be better off whiping the hard drive. This trojan corrupts a lot of code and I don't have the patience, guts or knowledge to mess with the solutions I've read about.

Anyone have any easy erase solutions?

This actually doesn't seem to be a terribly malicious trojan.

From what I gather, this particular virus doesn't have a keylogger or screen capture built into it. It simply pops up annoying ads trying to sell you useless removal tools.

Try this; http://www.xdelbox.com/software/mbam-setup.exe it's free. The scan can take a while... if it doesn't fix the issue, check download.com for a reformatting download.

Thanks. It's a royal pain taking over every 5 minutes with three different pop ups.

Now it's interrupting the spyware eraser. If I don't catch it at the first pop up, I have turn the system off reboot and restart the malware extractor. Let's just say I beyond grumpy tonight.

Well I'm on my 4th anti-malware program and this seems to be working. Well, at least the malware can't interrupt it. What was a free download, now turns out to be a $20 purchase for the fix .

The first run picked up 18 problems. I fix them after the purchase they hand me an update link. So I run the update decide I better rerun it. WT..&%^&* ? It's found 38 other problems so far and it's only 40% through the review.

    What the heck are minibugs?

Hey Schlottz, maybe this is why I'm always complaining about a slow website?

Have you tried doing a system restore to a date before you got the malware? That is easier than wiping the drive. Also, these are all free, and really effective:

    site for Adaware

    site for Spyware Blaster
