Rivals.com has learned that West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez is leaving the Mountaineers to become the new coach at Michigan.
Rodriguez spoke with Jeanette, Pa., high school quarterback Terrelle Pryor – the No. 1 prospect in the country according to Rivals.com – and told the prospect he is leaving the Mountaineers to take over the Wolverines program.

According to reports I have read, Pryor had not been considering Michigan, but had West Virginia and Ohio State (plus a couple of others) on his short list.

Do you suppose Rodriguez was trying to convince Pryor to attend West Virginia (instead of TOSU) anyway? He would have a motive to do so.

The Big Ten, in general, is going to have to learn to run and defend the "spread" offense.

Phew. I was starting to hear Gary Pinkel's name in the coaching search.

Had Carr realized that 4 years ago, when Oregon burned him opening day, he'd still be headcoach. It's also the reason Mich's DC, Ron English didn't get the job.

Well, maybe not right away Steve. With the incumbent quarterback (Mallett) being more a classic dropback-pocket guy, it may take some time before Rodriguez gets the right recruits in to implement the full spread. But eventually, yes, it will be the spread, and teams will have to defend it. UM will have to start recruiting a different type of player on offense.

IMHO a very good hire or as RYOU stated in the other thread, a 'right fine snatch'. Geez, first Bielein, now Rodriguez, 2 WVU coaches in the span of a year. WV - where coaches go to prep for a job at UM.

(Note to UM athletic admin - We like Mac over Turnbull just fine, thx.)

So I guess that makes both of us happy that Schiano turned down the offer
