Schiano is the right guy for Rutgers, even though he at an overpaid $1.7 mil.

I can't wait to hear what Michigan put on the table for Rodriquez in order for him to ingore the $4 mil cash WVU buyout. Word has it UM put $30 millon plus bonuses and a minimum salary guarantee for 7 years on the table for Miles and he had a mere $1.25 mil buyout to pay. The word through the RU athletic department is the UM offer for Schiano was only $1.5 with big escalations for the Big Ten title.

    Great hire for UM!!

At least wins over Michigan will actually be worth something in strength of schedule now for the Buckeyes.

It's a good thing for the bigten to raise the level of coaching to regain some of the conference's luster.

Anyone see the articles that West Virginia is now trying to enforce the $4 million buyout clause of Rodriguez's contract? Now Rodriguez is trying to say that WVU didn't live up to negotiated terms and pulled a bait and switch with the contract. Someone might want to tell him to actually read his contract at Michigan before he signs it as he apparently didn't read the WVU contract. It was interesting that one of the unmet terms (actually the first on the list in the ESPN.com article) would actually be an NCAA violation if WVU actually met it... I think there is going to be more drama with this situation before it's over.

The West Virginia folks aren't happy.

"signs proclaiming Grant Town, population of less than 1,000, as the hometown of Rodriguez have come down by order of Mayor Robert Riggs."

"The signs are in storage, and Riggs said he plans to return them to the resident who originally paid to have them installed."

" A shop that sells cemetery memorials in Charleston put the words "Coach Rodriguez" on one of the headstones displayed in a shop window."

Do you suppose Rodriguez was trying to convince Pryor to attend West Virginia (instead of TOSU) anyway? He would have a motive to do so.
PRYOR RELEASED A STATEMENT THE OTHER DAY AFTER HOT ROD WAS HIRED. " ADD MICHIGAN TO MY SHORT LIST NOW THAT RICH IS AT U.M." HE IS ALL OVER OUR NEWSPAPERS SAYING HOW MUCH HE LOVES RODRIQUEZ. RICH CALLED HIM THE NIGHT HE TOOK THE JOB B-4 HE TOLD ANYONE. THIS IS GOING TO GET INTERESTING.

There's no question that Cone and Mallet do not fit into the Rodriquez offense. You can bet that if he gets a commitment out of Pryor, those two will ask for a release. There is also the question of whether Pryor can slip past the UM admissions office. Mallet is a true frosh, so if he transfers he can sit the year out elsewhere and keep 3 years of eligibility. That would mean Rodriquez would have to start Pryor as a true frosh. I don't think Pryor's passing is NCAA quality just yet. His other option is likely to give Mallet a commitment to 3 more years with the pro style offense in order to keep him on the roster.

There's recruiting fall out already at WVU. Onterrio McCalebb,
a * * * * RB from Florida decommitted WVU on Thursday and verballed to Rutgers and Schiano.

I agree Mallet isn't a spread offense guy. He makes John Navarre look nimble.
Cone might fit better (I think he ran option and wishone in HS), but he is also in a similar mold as Mallet as far as physical stature tools.

Even if they do score Pryor (not holding my breath), and assuming Pryor can qualify, expect some transition time to the new offense. Its not just the QB - they'll have to recruit a different type of athlete at all skill positions, and probably get quicker guards as well.

Actually, another weak link is going to be the receivers. Manningham will go early and if discount the SR receivers, there are only 3 or 4 others on the roster right now. Grady and Hornaday are exactly the type of RB's you want for the spread either. Front line, I think Rodriquez can get some of those hogs to trim dowm and get quicker.

You knew it was coming, but Rodriquez let all of Carr's assistants go yesterday. I sense Carr knew how things would pan out and was able to all 2 year extensions last March. They'll get paid through 09'.

Michigan will be a good team because of this sign in. Rodriguez will be an outstanding addition to the team. Good luck on their run for the gold.
