Thread: People Magazine

    Default People Magazine

So, I go to people.com almost every day after reading through cnn.com and one day a few weeks ago on a whim, I submitted the picture that's my avatar for People Magazine's "America's Scrapbook 2007." Not thinking anything of it, I learned that they had chosen the picture to put on their website, which can be found here- I think it's picture 10. (It changes if they add pictures.)

I received an email when I got home tonight from a photo editor at the magazine that said they would like to put it in one of their upcoming issues. I'll keep everyone posted!

    That is awesome news
I will smash your face into a car windshield and then take your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, out to a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!

Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.

Yes, it's still #10, but #1 with me. What a statement of love and optimism. I still get misty thinking about it. Thank you for sharing her with us.

I'll let you have it for a while, you have worked hard, but the record will be mine by the end of the year.

Elisa, you amaze me with the way you are constantly giving to others through your tragedy. I can't wait to see the picture of your gorgeous daughter on the pages of People. I hope that her beautiful smile will inspire others to have the same courage you have had.

Thank you all very much. I tend to not really think of it as courage though- it's almost like something I have to do. I will not let Adria's death be in vain. She helped so many people- she made me the person I am today. I feel blessed to have had her for the 5 years that I did have. Adria was the kind of kid that you could just look at and see something different was about her- she was that special. I used to say she was crazy- but now I see that she just that special. She was sent here to make me a better person and it's because of her I was able to accomplish many things that I most likely wouldn't have.

I recently had her name (in her handwriting) tattooed on the inside of my wrist in pink (her favorite color). It's a constant reminder of what I had. I look at it and smile. She is my hero.

I don't comment as much anymore, too busy, but this story amazes me. Your daughters courage and contributions continue through your telling the story. Thanks for a reminder of love.
