Our local paper has had an amazing run of bad homonym use lately. It's an embarrassing display for so-called professionals (I used to work there, and I know the 'so-called' is well deserved).

As much as I love flowrestling, the typos and grammatical errors drive me up the wall. I'm thinking of offering my free proofreading skills to the site as a public service.

Blue, you're right.

We all make the typo and when writing a story and trying to proof my own stuff, things get by. I don't have a copy editor, which I did have when I was working at a newspaper.

I've even caught typos and grammar issues on fortune cookies.

And on that note: www.engrish.com

As far as TV trucks go, sometimes the tech guys don't have the best journalistic backgrounds and do something quickly. I've seen a few errors on the graphics on SportsCenter that make me chuckle, but repeated errors do drive me batty, especially when I have one of those brain farts myself.

That's nice - "Pregnant woman over 70 and disabled people lounge" ...that's why commas are important. Funny website.

Didn't go to the website, but one I remember from grammar school is:

After eating the baby Tom fell asleep.

Option 1: After eating, the baby, Tom, fell asleep.
Option 2: After eating the baby, Tom fell asleep.

My friend and I were discussing pirates and dinner plans one evening. (Trust me, it made sense.) When one of our friends decided not to join us for dinner, my other friend responded:

There. She blows!

Now that sounds more like Bill Clinton's testimony at his impeachment.
