Windows On the World in the South Tower of the WTC. PS my office was on the 100th floor of the North Tower.

Wasn't the highest building on earth, but repairing the lightning arrestor a top a 100,000 m3 liguidified natural gas tank 125 feet tall was - enlightning. One spark and poof. The explosive equivalent to 3 A bombs.
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

Bad time to have a cigarette break? Actually, I have had a similar experience - riding in the car with my two dogs after they had eaten a burrito somewhat past its prime.

Sears Tower, but I'll throw something out there for you if you plan to come to Chicago anytime soon. If you're not coming with kids, opt for getting a drink at the Signature Room at the top of the Hancock Building over going to the Skydeck at the Sears Tower. Just as good as a view, and you get to have alcohol. Win.
