It *might* get better quality if you can hook it up directly to the OUT connection on your Satellite/Cable box rather than the TV.. worth a shot if it bothers you

I wasnt expecting full hd either but i thought it might at least retain some digital quality, but youre right, its like watching analog tv.

I'll check when I get home but I'm pretty sure it is connected to the DVR. (sorry, I was oversimplifying when I said connected to the TV... I just meant that there wasn't a PC involved). I believe it's going out from the DVR into the DVD Recorder.

I think my problem is that I cant use an hdmi cable even though there is an available in/output on the box. the cox hd dvr cant handle it for some reason.

Best Buy had a nice slash and burn sale back in february. They beat the best on-line prices including Amazon and eBay by 10% and Amazon had a few sellers that were in the dump and run mode. I was traveling early in the week and didn't get to a store until like Thursday and was amazed they still had a factory sealed Sony XBR in stock at those prices.

By the way, Sony now owns Samsung, it branded in between the XBR series and the lower end Sony models. Style wise the two are virtually identical. The difference in under the hood.
