I'm fed up with thematforums.com (why did it take me so long???) and I decided to grace your forum with my presence. Did anybody miss me?

Man, they're going crazy over there. Not that they weren't before, but the wholesale deletions and bannings are rampant. Last night, people were jamming the College Forum with complaints. If they would simply allow responsible discussion of controversial issues (Metcalf), they wouldn't have a problem. What a shame that our national governing body runs its forum like a four year old with hurt feeling.

My main problem is if they had deleted some of the posts at the beginning. Instead of allowing rampant idiotic posts to remain and then come in and wholesale delete threads is beyond stupid. None of this would seem as bad. As far as I can tell there in no rhyme nor reason for some of the deletions. Yet in turn they allow some of the most vile and hateful stuff to remain.

In themat.com's defense the childish and immature posters over there have taken over and the only way to save the forum was to do wholesale deletions. I'm sure it was much easier to nuke threads then to read each individual post and delete them individually.

My question is: why do they have a problem dealing with childish and immature posters? Maybe it's harder than I think. If you're going to nuke a thread for cause, then that means you've looked at some individual posts, does it not?

Banning someone because hey disagree with the head honchos is just plain wrong. Not allowing them to discuss material that they have posted themselves is just wrong as well. Oh wait, they allow you to discuss those things as long as you share their same opinions, even if its wrong.

They deleted threads and posts that were harmless. I say harmless not because there have been much worse allowed in the past, but I say harmless because they were in jest.

For instance, JointDoc, a poster who is always joking in a respectable manner, posted some additional criteria for winning the Hodge. Underneath heart, which was originally mentioned,, he added lungs, then kidney's, then other bodyparts.

In jest, I said it wasn't fair to Bubba because as we all learned, he has dropped kidney's. This was in his own defense in fact because people thought he had just thrown the towel.
I mean come on, he have thicker skin than that.

Anyhow, after seeing how they handled the Metcalf apology thread, which I thought was civil, I decided that my skin is too thick too hang around any longer. And unlike many others, I am now permanently gone. I wish them all the best and do understand that they have a business to uphold. Their busines just happens to be to protect certain individuals, while no others. So in a business sense, I understand.

Anyhow, I will be spending more of my time getting through obligations of my job, as well as posting here and the openmat forum run by our boy Viratas.
