    Default Euro 2012 Discussion

I think KR and I are the only ones on the board who really follow soccer pretty closely, but this tournament is getting started tomorrow. I wound up a major World Cup junkie two years ago and as such am really looking forward to this tournament.

Nothing too exciting tomorrow, but Saturday should be ridiculous with the group of death games (Germany, Portugal, Netherlands) highlighted by Germany v. Portugal in the afternoon.

Spain is the defending champ at both Euros and obviously the World Cup but this year my money is on Ze Germans.

My brother is borderline obsessed, so that makes me interested by default.

My brother says it's a tough choice, but safe money is on Germany. He commented that France is a wildcard since they have won 20 straight games and that Spain and Holland are excellent.

I can't take the French seriously after the World Cup debacle.

Their game against England should be interesting, I've always kind of rooted for England but with their injuries and Rooney's suspension they're going to have a tough road.

The possible match up with Spain in the quarters (if the French win Group D) won't play well for them.

Russia looked surprisingly competent today, Czechs couldn't deal with them at all.

Highlight of the day had to be in the previous game though when Poland's keeper was sent off and their second string guy came off the bench cold and stoned a penalty to keep the match tied 1-1.

USA up 1-0 on ESPN right now in their first World Cup qualifier.
