I would have thought part of the reason of these threads having been started being an attempt to antagonize you would have been obvious.

My question, why let yourself be antagonized?

What do you call an Irishman with no sense of humor?

When it comes to ethnic jokes, it's all about context and intent. Things can be said in a hurtful way or in a fun way. I love a good joke about almost any subject, but try to be sensitive to the listener and be sure that I'm not offending him or her before I tell it.

I agree about context and jokes being made in a hurtful way vs a fun way. If someone posts jokes with the intent of upsetting someone, that's mean-spirited and hurtful. If someone posts them just for a laugh and is not intending to offend someone, that's different.

I think Tight Waist had a dual purpose with the Irish joke thread.

You seem pretty familar with fags, and whining and crying and bitching. How is that? Do Ban's posts always give you such a hard-on?

Ban, Ward Churchill's trial against the University of Colorado has been going on since last week. You should hear the "howling mob" (his attorney's phrase) get all worked up over him, cast dispersions on everything he's ever done, and call him names, because he made that "little Eichmann's" comment in an essay. The same thing happened to Jeremiah Wright. I guess some forms of speech are more equal than others, and in certain quarters, bigoted speech is A-okay.

Why offer a forum for trolls? I'm trying to understand the rationale, because I don't. Is it because:
    (a) trolls don't really exist?
    (b) some think they're cute or funny?
    (c) too difficult to police or monitor?
    (c) stirring the pot, now matter who gets touched by the exuent slop, is good for the overall health of the forum?
