    Default D@MN IT, again!

I just got back from the vet. Roxie has been limping on her right hind leg. I figured it was some kind of a sprain. She wasn't responding to just medication. X-rays showed a tumor up in the hip joint. It is bone cancer.
Cyrano lasted 6 months from diagnosis to when we had to put him down. Roxanne is a bit of a princess. I suspect she will not make it as long. Kipling was right:

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
    From men and women to fill our day;
But when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your hearts to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie -
    Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
    Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk you heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years that nature permits,
Are closing in asthma, or tumor, or fits,
And the Vet's unspoken prescription runs
to lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find - it's your own affair
But - you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

We've sorrow enough in the natural way
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent
At compound interest of cent per cent,
For when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short time loan is as bad as a long -
So why in Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

When the body that lived at your single will,
When the whimper of welcome is stilled
    (HOW STILL!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone - wherever it goes - for good,
You soon discover how much you care,
And give your heart to a NEW dog to tear.

Jeez, I'm sorry to hear that. You're not having good luck with your dogs this year. I don't mean this to sound flippant, but you could look at it as an opportunity to raise a new dog. Hard to look on the bright side of this at all though.

    MR,
I'm so sorry for all the suffering you've been through and are going through .
You know, I think I would rather be a man than a god . We don't need anyone to believe in us. We just keep going anyhow. It's what we do.

    MR
    suggestion
start giving her Inositol Hexaphosphate (IP6) as much as possible.
    IP6 is found in Lecithin.
I get organic non-GMO stuff from a WHole Foods type of store
    Brand name Bluebonnet.
If you see my 1000th post thread I have studies on IP6 on there done by the Universities of Maryland & Colorado showing that it helps shrinks tumors. I eat it every day. Knows if the dogs will consume it but worth a try if you want.

Sorry to hear, M. It's unfortunate that we grow so close to creatures with such a short lifespan compared to ours. As in any such situation, we must look at the big picture and focus on the pleasure that you and the animal gave to each other, not on the fact that it ended too soon.

I agree with Spider. We must focus on the good times and not the inevitable. It is the same as when we are about to lose a loved one that is human.

Dogs truly are man's best friend. I have enjoyed every single one I have had the pleasure of having. Just try to make her last days as comfortable and pleasurable as possible.

Losing a dog is never easy. We had to put down our German short-hair the week before thanksgiving in 2010. Not an easy thing to do. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
