    I second these picks.
I actually watched the filming of Shawshank. Filmed in the Mansfield, OH area. I have seen some of the props from the movie. If you are ever passing through Ohio and want a good visit. The Old Ohio State Reformatory and The Living Bible Museum (Life size wax figures) in good ole Mansfield, OH. About a half mile apart from each other.

Good call on Usual Suspects and Reservoir Dogs! I'll second both recommendations.

My thanks to everyone and I hope you keep the recommendations coming. Everyone needs a movie now and then so continue adding to these throughout the year.

The Departed and as a foreign film,The Curse of the Golden Flower (directed by Zhang Yimou, the same person who masterminded the opening ceremonies in Beijing) are both very good.

Tough to think of all the favorites so I will go by category to help myself out:

Best Drama: Raging Bull-De Niro's Finest.
Best Comedy: Good Lord that is tough. I'll go with Blazing Saddles. "Wait a minute, I didn't get a harumph out of that guy!"
Best Action Movies: Die Hard, Batman Begins, Raiders of the Lost Ark
Best Horror Movie: The Exorcist hands down. Just Plain Nasty.
    Best Thriller: The Rear Window
Best Sci Fi: Empire Strikes Back, Blade Runner

    Others:
    A Clockwork Orange-Twisted
Bridge on the River Kwai- The best movie about obsession
The Deer Hunter - Moody, depressing, tragic
    The Terminator
Back to the Future - Fun, original, edge of your seat.

I'm sure I'll be back to add more later.

I second Back to the Future, but watch the Trilogy.

Watched Driver and would rate it a B to B-. Warning its dark plot contains graphic violence.

I just watched it myself the other night. B- is a pretty fair assement.
