Has anyone seen them live? I like their music and it looks almost like a metal concert from what I've seen on tv. They are coming to my area in early December and wanted to know if they are worth two tickets.

They look like a metal band because they were initially a metal band called Savatage way back in the day. Savatage was actually a very good band, you should check out some videos. Maybe start with "Hall of the Mountain King" on youtube.

I just looked them up. They were a good band. I have no clue how they slipped through my radar back in the 80s. I have decided to get the tickets and I doubt we will be disappointed.

Quinn, we saw them last night. The show lasted 2.5 hours. Honestly while we enjoyed the show it was a bit too long for us. Basically TSO's sound, to us, becomes a bit repetitive and monotonous after a while to the extent the pieces sound so very similar. We thought the show was good and we weren't disappointed but probably wouldn't see them again. The light show was good too but again a bit old after about the two hour mark. I think a 1.5 or 2 hour max show length would be better but ticket value would suffer. The crowd seemed to enjoy it very much. The people we walked out around seemed satisfied but none seem energized and excited. We're glad we went. Overall grade would be a B+ to A-.

Thanks for the info. We were supposed to go on Dec. 1st but things came up and we couldn't. It's good information to have when thinking about next year though. The only show I ever saw that lasted that long was Billy Joel and Elton John at the Horseshoe in Columbus years and years ago. While my friends and I talk fondly of it these days, but I seem to remember all of us about done with it after 90 min or so.
