The Socialist State of New Jersey is probably the most illogically liberal state in the union. Yes, other states like Cali and Vermont are probably further to the left than NJ, but NJ legislators are biggest bunch of idiots on the planet. The dems are hooked into the largest voting block in the state, the teachers and government worker unions and as long as they protect those unions, they'll never get voted out.

So what rouses my angst, you ask. Well, it seems the auto insurers in the state can't make a profit underwriting urban areas, too many stolen cars, too many soneone hit me and fled cases. So what does the legislature want to do. They want every non-urban policyholder to pay a $20 fee per vehicle to create a fund to offset the cost of urban auto insurance. The remainder of the state already foots the bill for urban schools. We're looking at a 20% property tax increase because the governor refuses to cut spending. (Oh, he's willing to close down the state parks though because only one is in a semi urban area behind the capital building which cost $87 million to build last year. ) Road litter crews which once were staffed by the cons for .35 an hour are now staffed by union employees at $20 and hour plus bennies because the union put up a stink.

If you're thinking about coming east, head for PA, DE or even NY, but stay the heck out of this state. I'm counting the days till I'm outta here.

come on down to the Tar Heel state, RYou. Plenty of good NC bbq and southern hospitality. We got beaches, we got mountains. The wrestling needs a lot of help but we're getting better

Yea, I've stayed on the Outer Banks. A lot wider than Jersey and you can ride a bike on the beach. The sand is too soft up here. No where near as crowded and no fee for access. Better fishing too.

A neighbor down the street moved there a couple of years ago. He had the luxury of being able to reside anywhere and keep his job.

Temperate climate, yea I could handle that. I'd miss the pizza, but they BBQ would more than make up for it.

That's not the mustard or vinager based BBQ is it? Never cared for that style myself. North Carolina now, a great state, loved it, just not that style of BBQ.

Our daughter is heading to college in North Carolina next year so we will become a lot more familiar with it!

Oh yeah, in Maryland the City of Baltimore is the political nexus of power while being a vacuum for tax dollars that the prosperous counties like mine have to fund. Politics here also tend to lean to the left.

Carolina, Kansas, Tennessee...doesn't matter, they all beat what isn't available up here.
