If that was any one of their 10yr old boys or grandsons, I can guarantee you they would've done what ever they could to protect him. They didn't. They failed the ultimate test. They are all cowards.

    With that said, maybe I would've failed too. I don't know. I hope not. But they did, so let's quit giving them a pass based on what other people might have done or what they might have been thinking at the time. In a situation like this, there is right and wrong. And a little boy is forever scarred because of cowardice. Let's all just hope we can and will do the right thing if we are ever in that situation.
    Everyone? I am assuming that that only refers to the 5 people morally indicted? Or do you honestly mean the entire school?

    The fact remains that most of your statement is SUPPOSITION. Paterno has not been criminally indicted. There no doubt some failures but to claim that we know exactly WHERE they, BY WHOM exactly & to what extent is still yet to be seen. I reserve my full judgment until the entire story has been told.

    Obviously I only meant the people who were aware of the alligations. Paterno will not be criminally indicted, either. But you have to ask yourself this. Do you live only by what is legally mandated or do you live by what is moral? Legally, I'm sure he's fine. That still doesn't give him a pass on what is morally right. If it were his son or grandson, I will guarantee that he would have done more. It really isn't hard to figure out. You can keep holding on to hope that it didn't happen, but that is exactly what Paterno did. He looked the other way and hoped for the best. Like it or not, it's the coward way out.

    If you read my blog post you will see that I thought that JoePa should have done more based upon what the GJ report said. I am getting the feelign now however that something wil be revealed in the next 4-6 months that will perhaps exonerate JoePA.

    Tonight we hear some other stuff:

    1) Sandusky tells Bob Costas on NBC tonight that he is innocent of the criminal charges;
    2) McQueary says in an email to his friends & family that he DID stop the anal rape being perpetrated by JS; This sets it up to be a McQueary vs Sandusky testimonies in court;
    3) JS says he never talked to JoePA about any of this;
    4) The Exec Director of the 2nd Mile resigned;
    5) The Judge who let JS out on bail was a former volunteer of the 2nd mile. She is being criticized for not letting anyone know that;
    6) The PA State AG is saying more victims are coming to them;
    7) The B1G took JoePa's name off the FB title trophy.

    Wow. If McQueary did stop the rape then why not say so in the first place. I don't doubt JS never talked to Paterno, I hadn't heard they had talked about it. The judge was a board member of 2nd mile? This is getting weirder by the moment, if it's all true. I also heard that JS's attorney impregnated a teenager. I don't know what is true and what isn't, but it is interesting to say the least.

    One thing I know for certain. I really feel bad for a lot of people involved in this by no part of their own. The victims go without saying. I think some of the people that nobody has really talked about is Sanduskys family. I couldnt even imagine being in their shoes right now.
    All the contradictory feelings they must be having right now and all the long stares in the super market. Whispers in church. Cant even imagine.

    You do not know what McQueary did or did not tell the Grand Jury in full. You only know what they released. They also released that some folks are angry that Sandusky is out on bail & lives right next to an elementary school. On the other side of his backyard fence is literally is one of the playing fields of the school. It is the school where I went to from 2nd to 6th grade. I know his house. I lived literally 5 blocks away.

    One of his kids is on staff of the Cleveland Browns & the other is a FB coach at a PA D2 school. I wonder where his wife is now in all of this. Has she divorced him & changed her name? Or is she standing by her man?

    Director of Player Personnel for the Cleveland Browns, the other an assistant football coach at West Chester University.

    Not divorced yet.

    Get this fact..... note the date........former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, a lawyer from the commonwealth of Pennsylvania honored Sandusky with an Angels in Adoption award in 2002. The annual Angels in Adoption award, which allows Members of Congress to nominate a constituent for their work in the adoption, foster care, and child welfare community. Each year, there are several National Angels, individuals or groups that work on a national or global level, are honored.

    Just to shed a little more light on the Grand Jury system.

    The Grand Jury is largely an investigative body.

    When a police officer wants to question a suspect they need reasonable suspicion in order to detain the suspect or their consent. And even then the police can not compel the suspect to answer any question.
    A police officer can not compel a witness to answer any question either.

    In both examples above there are some limited exceptions where obstruction statutes may apply but those aren't worth discussing.

    However, a district attorney only needs mere suspicion and can ask the Grand Jury to subpoena the witness or suspect. Before the Grand Jury, the district attorney can ask any question they wish and the witness or suspect MUST answer unless they can legitimately claim an exception (ie self incrimination). Without a legitimate exception the witness or suspect is usually held in civil contempt often resulting in jail until such time they will answer the question.

    The suspect or witness is not permitted to be questioned by a defense attorney to put forth a counter argument or defense. That isn't the forum of a Grand Jury.

    The Grand Jury system is a largely a prosecutor's tool to shed ample light on an investigation to determine if enough facts exist to support an indictment and prosecution. The system is not a process for the suspect or witness to put forward a defense. That's the trial.
