to be blunt, not trying to be rude, but people who think soccer is boring, don't understand the sport of soccer. Like wrestling, there is much more going on than you may realize, it is a great game, with tons of action if you know what to look for.

That guy that said that soccer has no strategy is completely wrong.

Uhh, I disagreed with the guy who said soccer had no strategy. Before getting pissy, maybe you should make sure you reply to the right post.

I suspect that most of your relatively free-flowing games played on an oblong have similar strategy: soccer, hockey, lacrosse, water polo, etc. I have watched them, and found hockey, lacrosse, and water polo exciting to watch, even without having much of an idea of what was going on. Two that I found boring were polo and soccer. The polo had the redeeming feature of some really good booze. I know that there was more going on than I knew what to look for. However, the action itself was exciting in some games. Soccer was just a bunch of guys in their underwear, trotting up and down the field, while every once in a while one of them would throw himself on the ground in the throes of agony - and then get up and trot back and forth again.
You're right, I don't understand soccer. That doesn't change the fact that it is boring. Do people get excited over it? You bet. But people get excited over chess matches and bridge tournaments too. How many millions watch poker on TV? That, to me, doesn't make it exciting.

Because to a lot of people soccer is more than a sport, it's a: lifestyle, part of them selves, a passion for the game and playing it. One of the amazing things about soccer is that anyone can play it, even in extreme poverty people still find ways to play it. There are kids in third world countries who wrap up plastic bags and use them for soccer balls just because they have such a desire to play the sport. Don't get me wrong, I am an American and I'm Extremely proud of it and my country, i also enjoy American football and lots of American sports ,but normally people who don't play soccer can't understand it or why it has been named "The Beautiful Sport". It was called football before American's even made the game we call football here today ,and Soccer has been around since ancient China so it has spread like wild fire to over 200 countries and is played almost everywhere as an organized sport or just pick up games. Since it is played in so many countries and so many people participate in the sport it has a huge following of fans that watch it. Therefore it is the most watched sport in the world. I am a die hard soccer player and fan and I love the game!
