Default Difficult day - loss of a pet

I just got back from the vet. We had Cyrano, our big male, put down. His cancer had reached the point where it hurt him to put his foot on the ground and bothered him all of the time. The choice was leave him in pain, keep him drugged into insensability, or send him on his way.
I have never been around a sweeter dog. I've had some that were brighter, better watch dogs, more playful, or whatever, but none with a sweeter personality than this big guy.

    R.I.P. Cyrano and Roxanne.

I feel for you. Had to do it in 2008 with my girl boxer and am staring right at it for my guy boxer. I've never made a tougher decision in my life. My prayers are with you!! But, always remember that you save dogs when others would discard them and all dogs go to heaven, so they will all be saving you a seat.

Sorry Mike , I know how much your dogs mean to you . Always a tough decision yet I am sure you made the right choice . Not that that helps right now .
You know, I think I would rather be a man than a god . We don't need anyone to believe in us. We just keep going anyhow. It's what we do.

Sorry to hear that, having to put a pet down puts me a funk for quite a while.

Many of us have been through this and it's never easy. The brain knows it's the right thing to do, but the heart still suffers the loss. My condolences.

I feel for you, this time last year our dog was put down for bone cancer in her nose. It's never an easy thing to do or go through.
