Snackem - your post gave me the most unexpected, and totally inappropriate, laugh of the day! Cyrano's bone cancer left him with a lump on his leg roughly the shape of an ice cream cone - with the scoop a little bigger than a baseball and the "cone" running 8" up his leg. Reading of your girl's cancer of the nose gave me a mental picture of my needle-nose Cyrano with his tumor on his nose. First laugh I have had for a couple of days.

I never thought much about it until I had to have my cat put to sleep. I moped around for two months with a broken heart.

Mike, My wife and I got our first dog together a couple of years ago. We got her at the Animal Rescue League here in Des Moines. She had dogs her whole life this is my first. She's a mutt but the vet thinks she's part greyhound. She's the sweetest dog I've ever been around. I love her more than words could ever express. I could never imagine having to make the decision you did and I hope I don't have to. My heart goes out to you. Growing up I always wanted a dog but my Dad would never let us get one. Now that I have one I want more and will never not be without one. When we get a bigger place to live we will be going up to the greyhound rescue just North of Des Moines and take one home with us. I have developed a great passion for dogs since I met my wife. As I said before, my heart goes out to you. Theres not much better in life than the companionship of a good dog.
