Hurricane Irene has made landfall. She has been downgraded to a Cat. 1!!

Suffolk, Va: I awoke at 5am to find her here. Rain and strong winds. Wind has reached in excess of 50 mph so far. We still have power so far. A reported tornado struck the Sandbridge beach area of Virginia Beach. 3 houses have lost their roofs. 2 water rescues so far. First, a man, woman and cat were rescued from a sailboat in the Bay near Norfolk. Second, a car was spotted in the water near Yorktown. No details yet on that rescue.

The calm before the storm. Nice outside now, but Irene's expected to hit tonight around 2 AM. I'm right near the shore, so I'm hoping for not too much flooding. I'm ready with a sump pump for the basement, but when we lose power, it won't do much good (no generator). Cathy, my fiancee, is an operating room nurse and is on call tomorrow from 7 AM Sunday to 7 AM Monday. Since the bridge along the highway will probably be closed and there's no other way to get to the hospital, she'll probably have to go in tonight and sleep there. If conditions improve, she may be able to come home tomorrow afternoon or night. I've got flashlight batteries ready, my Kindle charged up, and hopefully enough non-perishable food, so I'm just waitin' it out. When the power goes out, I'll lose my internet, but I'll check back in ASAP. Good luck to all my east coast Wrestling Talk friends.

Nice! Sometimes we'll get some serious affects and flooding, but the mountains around us are providing protection this time.

Its been raining and blowing pretty steady through out the day here. Nothing really notable though.

It's HOT and dry over here. I'll keep all of you guys on the East coast in my prayers. Keep us posted.
