Congrats To Big Jim Thome Big Jim just hit #600 becoming the second fastest in baseball history to reach that milestone . Thome has never received the coverage of other big name players-he simply goes quietly about his business . No one has ever said a bad thing about Thome as he may be the nicest guy in baseball and one of the more respected players in history.

Re: Congrats To Big Jim Thome As a Twins fan I'm happy for Thome. He doesnt seem like your typical juicer but you never know in this era of baseball. It's too bad if he never did but he will always be associated with it because of the period he played in.

The only 3 names we could come up with that hit over 500 homers in the steroid era, without rumors of juicing are Griffey Jr., Frank Thomas and Jim Thome. It was when I was trying to google anything about steriods and him that I noticed how close he was to 600. Congrats to him. Seems like a solid person.

When I lived in Cleveland Thome was just starting his career and was a scrawney 3b man-he kept his weight down because they (the Indians Org.) wanted to move him to the OF-then changed their minds and told Thome to put on some size-Jim doubled the workout program he was given and came back 30 lbs heavier.
Now 6'3'' 255+ and 41 years old he has fought through a couple of career threatening injuries(back and wrist injuries ) and plays in constant pain this year..a broken toe ,a quad injury and back spasms-yet 11 homeruns in 186 AB is a 1:17 ratio

Re: Congrats To Big Jim Thome One of the few players that is loved by almost all baseball fans even though he likely kills your team repeatedly!
I am a twins fan and love having Jim here, however, I would like to see him get traded to a contender to have a shot at a ring...only if he okays the trade obviously. I have pretty much given up on the twins chances in the central and respect Thome so much that I would love to see him win a championship!
