Re: Netflix users attention
I don't watch enough tv or video to justify Netflix or even our cable but did try their free one month streaming offer. It streamed to the iPhone and iPad very well but found the choices limited. $7.99 for streaming only is a decent value but they do need to increase its catalog.
This comes from Flipboard.

Bad news today for Netflix subscribers. The streaming and DVDs-by-mail company sent out a message to its members explaining new price changes and plans for its subscription service.
Instead of offering a combined $9.99 plan, which includes unlimited streaming and DVDs by mail (one out at-a-time), Netflix said it will split the service into two distinct plans, beginning in September. At that point, consumers can either purchase an unlimit*ed streaming-only plan, for $7.99 per month, or an unlimited, one-out-at-a-time DVD plan for the same price. (Two-out-at-a-time will cost $11.99.)
But to receive both streaming and DVD-by-mail (one-out-at-a-time) benefits, sub scribers will now have to pay $15.98 per month, or roughly $191 per year--a 60% increase from the original combined plan.
The price changes come as Netflix looks to push more of its users to streaming while not cannibalizing its DVD business. As CEO Reed Hastings has said, "By every measure, we are now primarily a streaming company that also offers DVD-by-mail.? Last year, the company introduced a $7.99 streaming-only service, which many saw as a competitor to Hulu Plus. But with its new price plan, Netflix is clearly looking to either drive users to its streaming platform, or keep them solely renting DVDs--if they'd like both services, they're going to have to pay for it.
Re: Netflix users attention
I have the streaming only, and they dont have a good movie selection AT ALL! I use it for watching tv shows(lost, 24, etc) They have tons of dvds that arent streaming yet.
Re: Netflix users attention
This really pissed me off when I saw this as we use it for two purposes. We stream a lot of tv shows for out kids (and an occasional TV show for us but not that often), and then the wife and I use the DVD portion to watch two or three movies a week.
Re: Netflix users attention
I've been a Netflix member for years, we get three DVDs and then the streaming. My kids watch their cartoons/shows on one of our iPads while we watch a DVD. Great service.
Did I mention I am also invested in Netflix? That too.

How are you invested? Stocks or what. I agree it is a great service at a certain price but the fact that they dont have a wide streaming selection and that you have to wait for your movies in the mail. I waited three weeks for one video. I feel comfortable spending 9.99 for both services any more that that and I have to question if it is worth it. Many many people are questioning it now as a matter of fact. Now if they would get all of their dvd selection on the streaming I would just stream but unfortunately some of the shows I watch are half and half.
Re: Netflix users attention
I'd pay twice what I pay now if they had all their movies available to be streamed. Tell them that Flop, haha.

I own stock in the company, it is by far my best investment ever. I don't want to go into specifics because I'm afraid I'll jinx it.
I'm surprised it took you so long to get your DVD, that must have been an anomaly. If I put my disks in the mailbox on Monday I have new disks on Wednesday.

They are working on the streaming thing, and it's improving (slowly). My kids love it, but they don't mind watching a SpongeBob episode that's three years old.
