We overwhelmingly heard her side of the story (the lying side of the story) for months.
I don't know your sources, but I've not heard her side at all, other than there were charges filed. Nada. Did 60 minutes do a story on this, or not? And what did they conclude?
Now we're hearing the truth, and it turns out that she had no concern for the lives of the people she falsely accused.
So, you know the truth of the matter? A lot of people claim they do.
She hid in anonymity and tried to ruin people's lives. Let's put her on trial, I'm all for it.
If she's broken a law, then let charges be brought.
This, to me, isn't a story about class in America, it's the story of a liar who almost ruined the lives of innocent young men. Those young guys could be a bunch of pr*cks that have money, think the world owes them, etc... (although I have no knowledge either way), but they didn't deserve to be falsely accused of rape. I honestly can't believe that anyone would take her side at this point.
Like I said before, there's more than one side to a story. That's not the same thing as saying there are only two "sides" and you or I have to pick one of them.
Do you believe we should have public defenders? (those who defend the indigent who face criminal charges)? Why or why not? If all this criminal stuff is so obvious, why bother having trials?
Matclone, I'm all for public defenders, but she won't need a public defender if it goes to trial. A high-profile law firm will pick up her case if she has any chance of winning at all.
All charges against the Duke boys were dropped. I guess someone could make the case that she had a great case against the boys, but the DA decided to drop the case for some crazy reason. My guess is that there was no evidence against the boys.
Yes, there are two sides to the story. Put her on 60 minutes and let her articulate what happened, I'd like to hear it. Unless (and until) she can explain why there is an apparent lack of evidence, I'll continue to think of her as a lying c-word.
Bonnie you are dumb if you can't admit that they were taken advantage of in a spectacular way.

Strong words from cleared Duke players
The Duke players should lie low stop holding press conferences and going on TV. There was something going on that night, that even if it was not illegal reflects badly on them, their school and the lacrosse team.
They were playing with fire and got burnt

Hiring a stripper, having a stripper perform, and then paying a stripper (actually they are normally paid first, then get tips) are all legal things to do, whether you agree with them morally or not. How is doing something completely legal "playing with fire" and worthy of getting "burnt"?

Several comments on this thread are very similar the situation where a woman is actually raped, but the man (defendant) says that she "wanted it". What were you thinking when you were walking through that rough neighborhood wearing hump-me boots and a mini-skirt? You were playing with fire!
Sorry, Flop, but it wasn't choir practice, it was a party and the innocents were not of legal age.
