Sorry, but football just rules. Call me an isolationist, but I am more than happy to spend a weekend watching football, and I'll take that over 5 minutes of soccer. I don't know about rugby because I haven't watched enough, but for the love, soccer is boring as all heck. If that means that I'm hiding in my country, so be it.

I enjoy, in both baseball and football, the charted progress. Stealing second, pushing through at fourth and inches for a first down - love it. Soccer is too all over the place. If that's what rugby is like, I won't like it. I have tried to enjoy soccer-I went to World Cup games when they were in the US, myriad college and high school games, and even a Chicago Fire game a few weeks ago. Sorry - I was bored.

And don't knock the obese defenders - they're undoubtedly 10X the athletes than you think they are.

I played rugby for a few years. It's alright, I had more fun playing football. I do laugh when I hear football refered to as the "ultimate team game". Rugby is certainly more of a team game.

I will say that the best rugby players I was around had wrestling experience. All of the non-wrestlers had trouble actually tackling people instead of launching yourself like football. The wrestlers just got low like and exploded like they were shooting doubles.
