    Default NFL Draft Oddity

One thing struck me as very odd while I was watching the draft. Goodell would walk to the podium and announce the draft pick, and then the kid who was drafted would take two or three minutes to get to the podium to shake Goodells's hand. For example, Blaine Gabbert literally talked on his cell phone for two minutes while Goodell stood on stage holding his pud. Gabbert then hugged his family and friends for another minute or two before finally jumping onto the stage.

I don't know why this pi$$ed me off so much, but I felt like yelling at the TV telling the kid to get his butt on the stage, shake hands, and then celebrate. Just me?

Was this really any different from how things have gone down the last few years?

There were more guys in New York this year attending so that may have been what made things seem different, but guys who are there have always kind of taken their time to get up on the stage.

the draft was good I thought. The Bears took the offensive lineman I hoped they would and the Vikings wasted their pick. The cardinals made a terrible pick considering they really need a qb, unless they pick up a big free agent or Dalton in the second round. I could not believe that the Panthers took Newton at #1, I just dont think he will pan out. The Broncos made a great pick in Vaughn Miller that guy is a freak.

Hopefully the bears keep up the good draft today possibly taking the kid from NC Marvin Austin or taking a big WR they could also use a CB but there is one available from the raiders.

Agree with the Broncos but still not sure on the Cardinals. There are still a lot of good QB's left in the draft and they can probably get a steal in the second round. Plus the rumor here in Phoenix is that they are looking for an established QB through free agency. By the way i hate the Cardinals and I am a huge Broncos fan. Please don't laugh the last few years have been hard enough....lol

If the Cards pcik up Dalton, Stanzi or Mallet I think Peterson looks better. If they dont and they can only get Hasselback I dont like it.

What do you think about the Broncos taking the a DT with the 36 pick and a TE with the 46 pick?

I really hope that the Lions have a terrible rest of the draft because they did get better if Farely lives up to the hype and might have created one of if not the best D line in the NFL.

Also how about the Falcons giving up so much for Julio Jones.

Cards might get Bulger in free agency. Don't think they're going to draft a qb, not early anyways. I think they're looking for a vet.

Broncos are not good at drafting, but at least they addressed their awful D line. Tight end might have been silly considering they have Tim Tebow as their quarterback.

Lions had a dominant D line last year. Now it is just SCARY.

Falcons feel they are a player or two away(WR and Pass rusher) They addressed one need. A team as solid as they will won't have an opportunity to draft someone that good so they saw their chance and took it. It is DEFINITELY a steep price but the NFL is a here and now league. I like the aggressive move we'll see if it pays off.

Good points. Remember that the Broncos have a new coach and President so I think the draft is going to be a strong point for them for awhile. The Cards might get Bulger but does that really equal big wins or just more competitive. If the Niners get Kolb I think they take the division. I agree with marshal faulk when he said the Seahawks will have a tough draft because of where they are picking, it will be hard for them to fill all the holes tehy need to.

Do you think Tebow is going to TE, I dont I think the Broncos take the kid from ND.

Hasselbeck, Bulger, or Kevin Kolb are all significantly better options than Dalton, Stanzi, or Mallet.

Plus if they suck this year they can just tank the end of the year and try and set themselves up for Andrew Luck
