I'm really interested to watch who winds up taking home Defensive Player of the Year this year.

The AFC has two former winners with three awards between them on their roster in the Baltimore boys. They've also got Haynesworth who's been fantastic for the second year in a row, and Jenkins who has turned the Jets Run-D around in a major way. Then Harrison and Polamalu have both had fantastic years, and former Steeler Joey Porter has turned things around since he got moved back to the right side.

Then the NFC has three absolutely fantastic D-Ends in Peppers, Tuck and Allen, and they have the guy who's probably the "front runner" to win the award in DeMarcus Ware since he's the league's sack leader

I like the call of Haynesworth, that guy is an absolute animal. He probably won't win though.

Last two DT's to win were Sapp and Stubblefield and both of those guys had 15 sacks the year they won.

Haynesworth "only" has 8.5 this year, and according to the page below he won't get anymore as he'll be sitting the final two games out with a sprained MCL.

Polamalu had some problems the last two years with coming running in on plays at a million miles an hour and either overrunning them or bouncing off guys because he didn't wrap up.

I don't know if that was part of his not being healthy the last two years, but he's definitely back to playing at the unreal form he was at in the playoffs during the Super Bowl run.

I think he's got a better shot at it than Haynesworth given that Reed, and Bob Sanders have taken home two of the last four DPOY's. They obviously don't hesitate in giving it to DB's.
