    Default For Waylon Jennings Fans!

I'm sure it's well known by now that Waylon is one of my favorite artists.

I've never seen this before, but a historical account of his career in video. Pretty derned cool!

Well, I will be darned Ban! I didn't know you liked Waylon. He is my second favorite country artist of all time. Kris Kristofferson is the first, I do appreciate a good song writer. But, back in the early 90's, four friends and I went to a Highwaymen concert in Dayton. All of us were 19 and the youngest ones at the concert.

The beginning sounds of the song Highwayman started, the lights came on and the four of them were standing with their backs to the crowd. They were all supposed to turn to the crowd announcing their names to cheers. But Waylon had different ideas. He was the first to turn around and said:

"My name is Waylon Jennings. His ain't, his ain't and his ain't. That's all you need to know."
I was also caught in a traffic jam coming home late at night from Gatlinburg, TN. Unfortunately it was the night he died. Fortunately, they played darn near every song he ever sang that night in his memory. It made the extra 4 hours in a car much more enjoyable.

Wow! Then, musically, we have a LOT in common. I'm a huge Kristofferson fan, as well. In fact, his newest album (which is two years old already) is excellent.

One of the thrills of my life was being able to see him in concert 3-4 years ago, right here in my hometown.

I think that I quote Kristofferson more than any other artist that I love.

Cool. I am usually laughed at when I say Kristofferson is my favorite. Then I play that person some of his songs and they realize that he is better than they had heard he was. I usually hit them with "To Beat the Devil" and ask them to tell me who the devil is in that song. They tend to start appreciating his talent when they actually listen to the words.
