    Default Christmas song

I couldn't find the questions thread to put this on, so I just started a new one.

    Two questions:

    1. What is your favorite Christmas song?

    2. Which artist does your favorite version of it?

Mine is Little Drummer Boy by Bob Seger.

Just off the top of my head, I like Bruce Springsteen's version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." I also like Madonna's remake of "Santa Baby" and Lady Antebellum's version of "Let It Snow."

I was just going to post that as my favorite. Springsteen isn't my favorite artist by any means, but that's a great version of the song.

Don't really care which Christmas song it is, as long as it is performed by my favorite masked men, Los Straitjackets.

They have an entire album of Christmas songs, done just like this.

Wow, I can't decide whether I think more or less of you because of that.

If we're moving into the "mask or other article of concealment on the head" category then I'd like to nominate Buckethead. I'm sure he has a Christmas song in his repertoire somewhere.

I thought the song was cool when I mised heard it 20 years ago, now it is on way too much during Christmas.
    My favoites are:
"Gloria In Excelsis Deo" for traidtional
"Holly Jolly Christmas" for modern. I don't lnow why but something about the line "I don't know if there be snow, but have a cup cheer" really makes me feel in the "spirit"
I also like John Lennon's "So this is Christmas"

How about the worst Christmas songs. My wife has a Chipmunks Christmas CD that she and the kids love and i hear all the time during December and it is beyond annoying. The chipmunks thing is cute the first time you hear it and loses its appeal rapidly.

Finally, Band Aid's "Do they know its Chrstmas?" is not a good song but has the inadvertantly funny line:
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you

I'll assume you mean the Springsteen version with Jon Bon Jovi. I also like the version by the Four Seasons.

The Little Drummer Boy live duet by David Bowie and Bing Crosby was an absolute genius creation of old and new that hit it the mark on a live broadcast. You have to understand that Bowie was a space cadet at the time.

    Silent Night - Barbra Streisand

Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee

The Beach Boys - Little St. Nick

Most prefer John Lennon's Christmas Song, but I prefer Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney

Try a most unique version - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town --Frank Sinatra & Cyndi Lauper. That was cut after the Bing / Bowie smash.

"Baby, It's Cold Outside" ? A lot have tried that one. I like two versions, one by Eartha Kitt but the Leon Redbone and Zooey Deschanel duet version just blows me away. You'll remember Zooey singing a solo version in ELF.

Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.
