    Electric!! Antibacterial Products

What are your opinions on using antibacterial products to clean your gear, your mats, and even yourself after wrestling? I have my boys use something called Defense Soap but I wonder if I am doing the right thing?
I've heard that using to many antibacterial products will cause all the germs to get even nastier over time.

I used KenShield as a skin protectant through 5 years of High School and never even had ring worm. The high school did an excellent job of cleaning the mats every day before practice, too, but it definitely had to play some role as many kids still got it.

Defense Soap is a new product, but our supplier says its as good or better at prevention than KenShield.

You can't worry about the future coach. Not using antibacterials today is negligent and you're opening yourself up to a lawsuit should you get one of those nasty parents on your tail.
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

Everyone at my school used Kenshield everyday. Very very few skin infections. I did ringworm one time, but caught it early, got to the doc, and it was gone in 2 days.
You do the math..... I'll do the alfredo!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

I just started using DefenseSoap myself because of getting ringworm more than once. It's too soon to give it a strong recommendation but several people here on the forum told me it was good stuff. I can see where you are worried about overdoing it on the antibacterial products but from what I read about the Defense products, they are all natural not chemical based. I should think that would make a difference. Plus it's not only targeting bacterial infections but fungi and viruses as well. Honestly, I'd be more worried not using a product in this situation.

That is exactly why I started my boys using the Defense Soap product, because it is all natural. I feel that natural products cause less resistance to develop in all these germs floating around. For much the same reason I use vinegar for most of the cleaning in my home. I just think it is a safer product than some of the others out there.
