I know this isn't a big deal for you guys, particularly in the overall scheme of "big time football".... but I'm so proud of this kid I could just explode and I had to brag on him a little bit

I've been watching him play since he was little, his dad is the head coach at Clayton HS, which is the team I spend most of my Friday nights in the fall going to see play. Each year, the Air Force Academy picks one senior whose number they use on the replica jerseys that fans can buy, and this year it's Drew's. Not bad for a "slow white boy from small-town eastern NC"
Anyway, I know we had a "rule" that allows for parents to brag on their kids... he's not my blood but I think of him as a brother.
Drew Fowler Earns MWC Defensive Player of the Week Honor
Senior earns honor with 14-tackle performance against Utah.
Sept. 10, 2007
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force senior linebacker Drew Fowler was named Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the week for football games through Sept. 8. Fowler joins New Mexico's Donovan Porterie and John Sullivan, who were named MWC Offensive and Special Teams players of the week.
Fowler, a native of Clayton, N.C., recorded a game-high 14 tackles, including six solo stops, in Air Force's 20-12 victory at Utah. Ten of his tackles came in the second half and the 14 total were the second-most of his career. Fowler and teammate Hunter Altman combined to stop Utah running back Darryl Poston on a fourth-and-goal with just over minute to play in the game to preserve the Falcon victory.
Fowler led the Falcons in tackles for the 13th time in his career. This is Fowler's second MWC player of the week honor.
