    Default What is your favorite food missed while cutting weight?

    what is your favorrte food that you were fored to stop eating to cut weight or just get healthier. starting tommarow mine will be buffalo wings with some ranch and a ice cold mountain-dew

    large portions of anything... When cutting I always figure, if I'm only allowed small amounts of food, it may as be small amounts of food I like.

    I always hated not being able to eat a good dinner at Thanksgiving.

    Ha! We had Thanksgiving Dinner at our banquet after the season last year. I pulled my shopping list from Excel so you can see what I bought:

    Menu Quantity
    18-20 lb. Turkeys 8
    4.75 lb. Turkey breast 5
    Stuffing
    Potatoes
    Sweet Potatoes
    20 lb. bags Green beans onion topping
    Greens 1 pan 10 large bunches ham hocks
    Rolls 5 32 ct bags butter pats 1 box
    Mac & Cheese 2 pans
    Cranberries 12 cans 4 whole/8 jelly
    Salad 5 tubs of mixed greens
    - dressing 2 lg bottles
    - gorgonzola 3 slices
    - apples 6
    - walnuts

    senior cake
    1/2 sheet carrot cake
    6 sweet potato pies

    other desserts - parents

    My brothers and I ate to our hearts' content: our mother would NOT let us cut weight, so we wrestled at "natural" weight. However, one of my brothers was a heavyweight, so it was irrelevant for him anyway.

    A big part of me still believes in no to very miminal cutting, even at the collegiate level. If everyone else is cutting, are you gaining an advantage by being "bigger," when everyone else is also "bigger?" Also, wrestling with energy is a hell of a lot better than wrestling with diminished energy.

    Yes, I do understand the minimization of body fat part, but I think that my arguments also have some merit.

    During the six years that I was wrestling and cutting weight, I got through the hoildays by promising myself that after my career was over, I could spend the rest of my life eating as much as I wanted to. Sixty pounds later, I've kept that promise.

    There was no specific food I missed, I just missed the amounts that I could eat.
    I totally agree with Ban on this pint. Wrestlers mentality is that you will always do better dropping weight classes, this worked for me up to a point. If you are in the middle weights and you drop you are losing strength and then giving up quickness and in general facing better athletes.

    I also still blame my habit of stuffing my face until I am almost sick on the few years I cut some serious weight.

    Same here. I really didn't cut things out, just significantly diminished the portions. End of the season, when the serious weight cutting came in, my calorie intake was next to nothing. Pretty bad now that I think about it, but that's how it was done back then.

    I always looked forward to Taco Bell on Saturday nights. I'd dread coming in on Monday and starting from scratch. I learned my lesson after a few months of that and took it easy on the weekends and got a workout on Sunday.
