I'd like to second Spider's nomination of Harry Chapin. One ofmy favorite all-time album is Harry Chapin's Greatest Stories Live. From Taxi to Mr. Tanner, Cats in the Cradle to Thirty Thousand Pounds of Bananas (being delivered to Scranton, PA) every story is great. My favorite story he sings is A Better Place to Be.

I've got the CD and love 'em all. I was going to add "30,000 Pounds of Bananas" with its three alternative endings.

Man, as a kid we had this album and I used to play this song over and over.

    Great choice!

Johnny Cash has some great ones: Boy named Sue, I Hung my Head, Highwayman, the one where he shoots his wife...

I also like the Arrogant Worms "Last Saskatchewan Pirate" and "Carrot Juice is Murder", they're kind of story songs. And the one where the Irishman gets a bowtie on his dong (don't remember the name.)

Finally "the Night Santa Went Crazy" by Wierd Al.

Anyone remember "MTA" (Charlie on the MTA) by The Kingston Trio? When I was a kid, the MTA went right by my bedroom window.

I sure remember them. I put together a nice list of videos a while back when one of the members (Nick Reynolds) died.
