Default No Way I Ain't Payin'

Okay, can someone please explain to me how finding a baseball incurs a tax liability ?

Bonds' 756th HR ball to be auctioned online

SAN FRANCISCO - No. 756 is going to auction.

Barry Bonds? record-breaking home run ball will be sold online, and fortunate fan Matt Murphy figures to be a half-million dollars richer.

The 21-year-old New York man said Tuesday he had no choice but to sell the ball ? several people told him he would be taxed on the souvenir just for holding on to it.

He took possession. I'm not a tax expert by any means, but I would guess the liability occurs when he sells it.

Sounds like bs to me. But I could be wrong.

Technically, the ball has no value above the cost major league baseball paid to have it made until he sells it.

Hopefully some nice accountant will get in touch with this idiot and set him straight.

I'd sell it soon though before Bonds gets indicted. Plus, it won't be worth as much when A-Rod breaks the record in a few years.

Plus the ball that is Bonds final homer, his official home run record will end up going for more or at least devalueing 756. Sell now.

I collect sports memorabilia and he isn't obligated to sell at all and can't be tazed on it until he sells it.
