The FIG has verified the ages of the Chinese girls Olympic gymnastics team for Beijing and confirmed they were of age. However, 2 gymnasts from the 2000 games in Sydney have been brought into question. One was working at the gymnastics venue in Beijing (not competing or judging) and her credential showed her birthdate as 1986 - meaning she would've been only 14 at the 2000 games. The other said in a TV interview several years ago that she was only 14 at the 2000 games and now says she misspoke.

If the Chinese can't cover up the ages of these girls, no one can.

This is funny. My mom used to work in the Grad School @ Penn State... and one of the things she used to do was look at incoming documents from students coming in from different countries. She quickly learned that many of the chinese students coming in (or attempting to come in) had falsified documents. She basically taught herself chinese and what to look for in these fake documents. She caught many students trying to get in... so it's not just the gymnasts! :-)
