Happy Birthday

Waiting for them to finish showering. It took about half an hour after they said "where do you want to go?" to get them to agree to eat where I want to eat - The Blind Faith Cafe (vegetarian). I finally had to promise that they could go to Burger King afterwards if they still needed meat. Then they still they tried to talk me into a vegetable pizza at Lou Malnati's instead.

Very nice, Hardcore. You're making me laugh.

Dinner was a bust. All the boys could talk about was threatening to try to order steak. Then the conversation turned to the beans and was all downhill from there. Hubby was good. He gets invited back, but not the boys.

The best thing? My mother in law made her signature caramel cake. Yum.
And the Barbra Streisand rose at my desk this morning, brought in by a girlfriend. It smells great.

The frosting is homemade caramel (not the melted candy stuff). That's what makes it good. My youngest son had to give a "how-to" speech in school last year - he got her to give up the recipe. He does a decent job, but it took a few times to get the caramel right.
