Thread: LeBron James

    Default LeBron James

Any guesses as to where the King will land? I happened to be downtown thursday morning across the street from the IMG building, where he's been having his meetings. What a freaking circus, crowds of people wearing "HOME" shirts waving signs, and a huge banner hung on the building I was in that read "HOME" on it. There were also about a dozen or so NEWS crews covering the scene. Passing cars were beebing their horns all day. It was like nothing I've ever seen before.

Call me a homer, but I think he's staying. Many have him going to Chicago, but I can't see him turning his back on this city.

I have thought all along Cleveland. Don't see him leaving.

Don't see him going to NY or NJ.

Maybe Chicago because I think he fits there with Rose better than with Miami and Wade.

I think he's gone. If he does leave, I think the Cavs should move to Columbus. They won't do it, but it would be a good move IMO.

There's no way owner Dan Gilbert is moving the team to C-bus after he finally won an uphill battle to get casinos in this town. And he's not a dick like Art Modell. Watch one interview and you can really see that he is an owner that genuinely cares.

I definitely think Gilbert cares and wants to win badly. I'm glad he owns the Cavs--he's definitely the best pro sports team owner in Ohio. I also know they won't move, but I think they should.

Casinos are also coming to Columbus, FYI, but that has nothing to do with why I think they should move. Cleveland is a dying city. Columbus is the only major city in Ohio that is growing. The Cavs would keep their fan base. I really don't see a downside (except of course the cost of moving).

Nationwide seats 19500 for basketball. That is 1062 less than the Q. I don't think they would move for a loss on each game. Only other place to play would be the Schott. Then that would create a scheduling fiasco with tOSU mens and womens teams.

    "Cleveland is a dying city."

You've got to think Greater Cleveland, rather than Cleveland. Still (statistically) the best high school wrestling in the nation. That's hardly dying.

As far as Lebron goes, it's a free country. As I used to discuss with Matclone (a guy I miss on these boards), one prime tenant of our freeedom, that has made this country great, is the freedom to be mobile. Hard for me to see his going to Chicago. Why would he step into Mike's shoes?

NY, then Maimi if he wished to switch teams but stay in the conference. However, it occurs to me that the Western Conference may have some allure due to the potential for maximizing (at long last) his style of play which would be to push the ball.

I see I've alienated the Cleveland contingent of TWT. I'll let it end at that.
