I thought this was pretty funny. I especially enjoyed the first comment.

"Yes, must be a sign from God... afterall lightning never strikes a big metal frame sticking up 60 feet in the air. "

I live just a few miles from that church. I actually graduated high school with the Pastor's daughter. I had no idea that it was built out of styrofoam until it burned down. The Pastor's who run the church (Lawerence and Darlene Bishop) have both said that they are going to rebuild it. Just not out of styrofoam. Interesting side note, the Bishops used to be some of the top selling quarterhorse people in the US. They still have a huge farm not far from the church, but not sure if they are still involved in quarterhorse deals or not.

    Quinn14,

Howdy neighbor! I live within 15 minutes of Touchdown Jesus...

Interesting to see the reaction to the fire in the Cincinnati area. Folks showed up with money to help rebuild it (original cost was about $200-$300,000)... but a significant portion of the populace thinks it would be better to use that money for other ministry, say, feeding the hungry.

A couple other folks have wondered if the lightning bolt that took out Butter Jesus (officially known as King of Kings) was intended for the Hustler store across I-75. ;-)

Darlene Bishop was on 700wlw the other day on Cunningham's show. She said that they have enough insurance on it to build a bigger and better one. She also said that people from around the world are wanting to donate money to help rebuild it, so she thinks they can make it bigger.

She also said that when people fill out the newcomer cards at her church, over half of them say that the way they found out about the church was because of that statue. So, in their eyes, it is filling a ministry. I think that since it is their church and the parishners want it rebuilt, then they should rebuild it. Most of the people that I've heard say that they should use the money for other things don't go to church or don't even believe in God, so it's kind of funny to listen to them tell Solid Rock what to do with their money. But, if the people of the church wanted to do something different with the money, then they should listen to them. Just doesn't seem to be the case.

By the way Ideamark, be careful if you drive by there on 75. Cops are camped out and giving tickets to people pulling over to take pictures and they're catching some speeders, too.

Maybe they should go with a hot air balloon alternative they can pulll down in bad weather.

Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.
