Default Report: Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State To Join Pac-10

Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will join the Pacific-10 Conference when a formal offer is made, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad on Friday.

Texas A&M, the Austin American Statesman reported, is torn between joining the Pac-10 or Southeastern Conference. The Aggies will have a 72-hour timetable to decide whether to accept the Pac-10's offer, the newspaper reported.

T Tech was the hurdle for Texas to join the Big Ten. Texas is watching the back of A&M and TTech. Big 10 wasn't interested in TTech. They were pushing Baylor also, but some P10's did not want a religion oriented university in the conference.

The SEC and Texas were talking, OU was along for the ride, but the SEC was cherry picking the B12 and Texas clung to TTech and A&M.

The way things are shaking out, it looks like Baylor, Kansas, KState and ISU will be headed to the Mountain West creating a 5th conference playoff and throwing a cog in the works for a 4 mega conference playoff.

Unless the B10 makes a move toward a Big East team or the SEC cherry picks the ACC this summer, the re-alignment of the B12 schools may be all we see for the remainder of the year.

Will the B10 make another move? Maybe not. B10 has guaranteed Nebraska $20 mill in TV revenue. None of the B10 TV contracts are renewing so where does the extra 420 come from? They shared over $240 mil this year. The same $240 split between 12 instead of 11 allots $20 mil per university. B10 signed a 10 year deal with ABC in 06 and 20 year deal with Fox for BTN the same year. Since B10 own the majority of the BTN there is no need to renegotiated the revenue. Since NE carries a national following and the B12 will vaporize, B10 can renegotiate with ABC/ESPN to up the ante for more games. NE v OU was always televised nationally on ABC. I think they'll find a way to reinstate the rivalry.

OU v Nebraska could just be like ND v UM. The schools could just make it a non-conference game every year. I'm curious to see how the bigten decides on their divisions. If they go with east and west, Nebraska certainly helps to make the west stronger.

My guess is and east that includes Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, and either MSU or Northwestern.

Leaving Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and either MSU or Northwestern.

For football purposes, will the BCS now have to guarantee the Mountain West a BCS game? With the Big 12 gone it does leave an opening.

The big12 is alive and well, with Texas confirming today that it turned down the PAC-10.

Kansas, KState, ISU and surprisingly MISSOURI all gave up some big bucks from Nebraska and Colorado buyouts to contribute to a kitty to keep Texas, OU and A&M in the conference.

It would appear Mizzou is in for the long term and will not be talking to the Big Ten.

As far as I see it, the Big Ten has no need to get any bigger right now and probably won't unless Notre Dame turns over. I'd be real surprised to them make a move at the Big East this year.

About all that is left is the pac 10 adding one more to round to 12 and a conference playoff.

That one more for the Pac-10 looks to be Utah.

I wish it had just been Boise. They already compete in the Pac-10 for wrestling, it would have made at least as much sense as Utah.
