Thread: Anyone buy a video camera lately?

The reviews I'm reading say that there are 4 quality modes, with the lowest quality being for web shots. What mode do you run yours in? Are you happy with the picture quality?

How are the batteries? Do they take long to recharge? I'm thinking maybe I'd like to have two spares, just so we never get caught waiting for something to recharge.

Here's something I learned about tournaments and recharging batteries. Lots of times outlets are at a premium and I'd wind up recharging way down the hall and missing the action. Now I carry a power strip in my bag now and if another parent beats me to a good outlet inside the gym, I'll ask if they mind sharing the outlet and I plug their stuff in my strip.

for wrestling, I use a medium setting. I think the next-to-highest. Having enough space is never really an issue since I burn directly to DVD.

I also use it for my dance shows and I use the highest quality setting for those.

The battery that came with ours only lasts about an hour. I bought two additional 8 hour batteries for it.

With everything else there is to worry about at wrestling events, it's nice to have peace of mind to not have to worry about running out of recording space or battery power.

Thank you Stardust for all of this info. I have been wanting to upgrade to one of these for a while but I have been waiting for prices to drop.

Bonnie, would you consider an internet buy ? You can save a ton over Best Buy prices including the sales tax. Two that I have bought from with super service are:

    Abes of Maine
    http://www.abesofmaine.com/itemList....up2=Camcorders

    Buy Dig
    http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.a...sku=JVCGZMG360

Looks like Abes has the better price for the JVC 60gig and the 80 gig. both of the outfits have retail stores in NJ. Both are 10 miles from me so if you have any problems I'll go stick em in a double chicken wing. PS these are US warranty not gray market products.
