Any of the Iowa people have any information or predictions? Just wondering if I'm going to have to make a trip to Iowa City in the next few days - this is my son's dorm. They are telling them to bring stuff home when they go for Easter, but he wasn't planning to come home.

I live here in eastern Iowa, and not too far from Iowa City. Based on current conditions, river levels are down SIGNIFICANTLY from where they were 1-2 weeks ago, and are still falling.

The only danger lies in the ground being saturated with water, but with no rain fore casted for at least 3-4 more days, that will lessen also.

Trust me, as one who was flooded in 2008, I'm about as leery and fearful of flooding as anyone you'll find, and I feel very confident. If I had to bet I'd say you are very safe.

Yes, these are the Mayflower roommates, Ethan on the right. Lookin' good, huh?

Thanks, Ban. I'm hoping that a few good days before the rain forecast for Saturday will help. I guess they are looking at the reservoir level as the indicator for determining evacuation. Ethan said that the river is out of the bank but not too close to the street by Mayflower.

Which floor is he on? If on 3 or higher, he can take as much as he pack and the valuable stuff and leave the remainder to be picked up once they finish cleaning the up flood wash.
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

2nd floor. I think they evacuate because buses and emergency vehicles can't get thru when the street is flooded. In the big 2008 flood there was only water on the 1st floor. I'm hopeful that it won't come to that.

It doesn't take a whole lot to flood Dubuque Street down in that area.
