    That's completely rational.

Smoking in a bar is now illegal in about 20 states. Which means elected officials responded to the voters in their states and banned smoking in bars and restaurants.

And most won't allow you in a bar unless you are 21. Not that I agree with that, but that is a whole other discussion.

No, because their eating fatty food is not a risk to the other people sitting at McDonald's with them. Smokers are free to purchase and smoke cigarettes without gov't intervention just as those who eat crappy food are free to buy and eat that. The difference is that the smoking affects more than just the person doing the smoking. None of your analogies so far have been valid; you keep trying to compare apples to rollerskates.

I will go to the neighboring city if I want to go to the bars and such. I will make the drive 15-30minutes away if I want to partake in those activities or I will stay home and play Wii! Its my choice, plain and simple, I know the risks and consequences of going to places like that and honestly inhaling smoke is the least of them. I'm more concerned with a drunk idiot that wants to start a fight or a drunk idiot driving and hitting me in the parking lot.

I have a choice to patronize those places. If my friends go to a smokey bar, I have two choices go to the bar and inhale the smoke or stay home and play Wii.
I will smash your face into a car windshield and then take your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, out to a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!

Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.

Shouldn't he have the freedom to violate the health codes if he wants? He could put a sign out front saying, "We have several health code violations, but our prices are 1/4 of all the other bars. You can CHOOSE to come in here and take your chances or go elsewhere and pay much more."

They are obviously already numb from the neck up, so yeah, that makes sense.

So should a parent be banned from giving their kids fatty foods? I haven't seen that outlawed yet.

The people are making the choice to eat fatty foods, just as people are choosing to smoke. If you don't want to eat fatty foods don't go to McDonalds. If you don't want to inhale smoke, don't go to a place that allows smoking. Its pretty simple to me.

Maybe - it's illegal to give them cigarettes or alcohol. Still a different argument though.
