I really despise everything about that school except for their recent decisions concerning wrestling. Hope Winston does well (but I wish instead Seton Hall did this - they appeared to be on the upswing when they shut the program down and were attracting a lot of NJ state champs. One of their AAs was a guy I wrestled a few times as a kid)

Do you remember Bobby Hanson? I believe he went to Seton Hall before they got cut. He was probably one of the best wrestlers I watched who never won a state title. His senior he lost in the finals to a sophomore named Donnie Pritzlaff, at the time we thought Hanson did not perform the way he could have but that was before Pritzlaff went on to do the things he did.

Interesting, but I don't know him - of course I know of the Priztlaffs. At least 2 South Jersey guys who were state champs when I was in HS went to Seton Hall - Childs of Rancocas Valley and Saunders of Overbrook. Nardone was another 2 or 3x state champ who went there
The guy I'm referring to (Cerchio of Scotch Plains) was a surprise AA, I think he only placed once in the states (5th or 6th his senior year). Many of the best back then didn't do anything while he excelled at SHU and I thought they were going to make a name for themselves. Gutfirst and I also wrestled in HS with the only guy from our town to go on to be an AA and he had the chance to go to Notre Dame and our coach was convinced they were going to be the next Iowa

Hmm, Winston. Where have I heard that name before? Isn't that the kid that's sparked great debate with regard to that Welch guy? And oddly enough is also the name of Adolf's bodyguard?

Back on topic though, while I don't necessarily agree with Iggy here, this does look more like one good recruiting class having some success rather than a program being built.

LOL - I posted a picture of my kids with him a few weeks ago in our group, he's the only undefeated NJ wrestler and that's his last name. I believe its the first name of Adolf's driver, but he can clear that up
What's your conclusion here?

It would at the very least be two recruiting classes. They made strides in their performance for several years in a row leading up to the run of bowl games. They were 11-2 in 2006 lost some good seniors and the next year were still a solid team winning another bowl game. Losing those two classes really depleted them so now they have to rebuild. Rutgers is certainly not an established program and they cant bring in top recruits the way the big time programs can so I expect these types of ups and downs from this point. Even this team still has skill in certain areas but they are young and have holes in a lot areas.

That perhaps a certain Welch fan uses that name for Adolf's bodyguard as a slap in the face to Winston fans?
