She really wants a Mac but after comparing prices you can get a lot more computer for your money by going with a HP, Dell or Gateway.

I agree with Snackem in regards to the HP's. They make great laptops at a reasonable price, Dell also makes a good laptop. You really can't go wrong with either one. If your daughter really wants a Mac then you can do what my father did (i also wanted a more expensive one that he thought i needed). He bought the more expensive computer for me but I had to pay the difference between the two. He gave me 6 months to pay the difference off. I got the computer i wanted and a little lesson as well. |

I would also suggest that if you are getting her a laptop for college, find one that can be used as a tablet and that is smaller in size (but still has a full sized keyboard). When I was in school I had a hp pavillion that I didn't really like--it was just too big to really be portable and it took more abuse because of it's size.

Hey Tony, how have the kids been doing on the mat? Have you checked out SlickDeals ? I suspect you need it pretty quick, but the folks on this board find the best deals around. They may help you find something suitable at a better price. There's a search button in the top right. http://slickdeals.net/ Also, are you aware of the Bing Cashback deal? Some sites are putting up deals with Microsoft that pay you 15-20-25% cashback by searching the deal through Microsoft's Bing search engine. If you know about it, ignore if not drop a PM and I'll come back with the instructions. http://www.bing.com/cashback/?FORM=M...dfb408d1fc12c9

Just been checking around.....Tiger Direct has a slew of discounted laptops. Right now they are offering Free Shipping, $0 tax and 15% Bing Cash Back on top of it. (Microsoft will rebate 15% of the purchase price in 60 days.) Many different brands. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...tops,Notebooks At worst you can use the prices to gauge a deal elsewhere.
