Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed. I thought Simmons would be absolutely MORTIFIED by this, but he's already talked himself into it. I think mortgaging about half your team to get KG is a really tough move to make, but with the woeful state of the Eastern Conference, and the chance to team up three guys who four years ago were all top 30 guys in the league was probably too much to pass up.

Re: Big Ticket to Beantown
Simmons has resigned himself to looking at the short-term, which is probably a good way for Celtics fans to look at it. They only have a one or two year window for it to work though.

Re: Big Ticket to Beantown
The whole pointo f sports is to go for the win, not to be competitive years from now. Here's how your priorities go:
1. Win now and set your team up to win for years to come (Team Model: Anaheim Angels)
2. If you can't do both, try to win now. (Team Model: Ladies and gentlemen, your 2007-08 Boston Celtics!!!)
3. If you can't do that, set yourself up to win in the future. (Team Model: Tampa Bay Devil Rays-lots of young talent coming up the ranks)
4. If you can't do either....(Team Model: The KC Royals)

Re: Big Ticket to Beantown
How do the Florida Marlins fit into your model? They morphed from #2 to #4 in a span of one year.
Win, then dump salary, sell team, etc...

Re: Big Ticket to Beantown
Even odder is that they somehow managed to do that transformation twice within the span of six years 97-98 and then 03-04
