IOWA CITY, Iowa - Iowa City police say they didn't have much trouble finding a man accused of using a stolen credit card ? he signed his own name to the receipts.

    Ex-mail carrier sentenced
Woman pleaded guilty to stealing checks
    By Tyeesha Dixon
    September 7, 2008

When Millard Taylor noticed that three of his workers' compensation checks hadn't arrived in the mail on schedule, he decided to investigate.

After some digging, Taylor discovered that the three checks, along with a Social Security check, had been cashed - even though they never reached the mailbox of his Cooksville home, according to county prosecutors.

Taylor was one of three people victimized by a former mail carrier who stole checks from customers on her route and deposited them into her personal bank account, prosecutors say...........

.......Prosecutors said Taylor told them that in November he noticed that the endorsements on the back of the cashed checks bore the name "Deidre Grace." At the time, Grace was the mail carrier for the Lisbon Post Office, which delivered residential mail to Cooksville.....

........DeBoissiere argued that the brazenness of the crime illustrated such desperation, adding that the scheme "wasn't clever."
"Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government!?

Actually, this is so wide-spread that "News of the Weird" no longer considers it unusual enough to use.

Stupidity knows no geographical boundries; once my partner and I had four guys detained near East 14th and 83rd in East Oakland. We had them lined up on the walk and I was the cover officer as my partner FI'd one of them. I glanced away toward my partner and when I looked back I saw a small baggie containing a few rocks on the ground between two men. I didn't know for certain who tossed it down, but asked, "Where did that come from?" to which the I was looking at said, "I don't know. The last time I saw that it was in my pocket."

LOL - we were doing a strip search after visiting. We got to the "Squat and cough" and a balloon dropped onto the floor. The guy looked down and said, "Sh1t, where did that come from?"
Considering that there were three people in the room, the ward and two staff, that the staff were standing about 10 feet away (one front, one rear) and the balloon landed almost dead-center between his feet - I thought his first word was appropriate.
