...next weekend. I have tickets to the Iowa- Northwestern game and assume that the restaurants in Iowa City will be jammed - it's family weekend. Looking for something nice but not too white tablecloth-ish. I thought I remembered someone saying something about a microbrewery. I'm open to other suggestions though.

If you don't mind a little drive check out the Amana Colonies. The Ox Yoke inn. Good family style German food. Decent Food and some good history The Irish Democrat, Gringo's (mexican), the Starlite is kind of a dump but, has great Hamburger's.

For a good steak and seafood a little upscale is Winifred's. The Greek Place is good but, a little pricey. Good Pizza check out Leonardo's(great atmosphere) or truely the best pizza Zoey's in Marion. Vino's is a little hole in the wall Italian place that is great as well.

Thanks. Not crazy about Amana kind of food, but some of those others sound good. Good food, good weather and a win for the Hawks...we'll all be happy.

or bonnie you can always check out the Czech Village in Cedar Rapids(it's a couple of blocks and it has a few places to eat some czech bakeries and shops). I don't know what has re-opened after the flood.

I was going to suggest the Amanas... I can't vouch for it myself, but some say that the Lincoln Cafe in Mt Vernon (straight north of IC on Rt 1) is the best restaurant in Iowa. From the menus I've seen online, it is rather cutting-edge cuisine that uses local produce in imaginative preparations. I bet Mt Vernon and the Cornell campus is beautiful this time of year... Mark PS Perhaps our resident CR resident, Jim Brown, will weigh in...
