Seriously contemplating this whole marathon thing. I never worked so hard for a marathon and have never come up more short. I think my final time was like 3:21 something. That's 10 minutes slower than my previous two marathons that I barely trained for in comparison. My legs just felt tired from the start. My only explanation would be that I was overtrained, but that would just be an excuse. Who knows..

I'm not sure what conditions were like, but I have never seen such incredibly slow times for all of the 5k conference championships on Saturday. Of course you were running on a different surface type. Running is a great thing to do and I think you should stick with it.

BTW-My older boy flew into Cleveland last week for a friend's wedding (it was great meeting his girlfriend, the professional violinist, who flew in with him), and he claims full recovery from getting upended by that bicycler while doing his early morning run on the steets on downtown Denver. His head hit the concrete and he was in intensive care for 72+ hours. This Friday we will be meeting up again as I'll be motoring to Illinois for my YOUNGER son's wedding. I've told both of them I'm waiting for grandkids.

Sorry man. I'm sure you're discouraged, but don't be. If your legs were tired from the start it is quite possible you did overtrain. Are you thinking about trying another race to qualify for Boston?

You have more balls than lots of people to even run a marathon.
